On September 24th-26th, SMARTTECH3D presented its latest product, MICRON3D green stereo, at the TCT Show in Birmingham – an international meeting about innovation in the process from design to production. Every year, a wide range of exhibitors presents their latest achievements in the field of additive production, 3D printing, design technology, and engineering.

The SMARTTECH company together with Lambda Photometrics Ltd. – a distributor of SMARTTECH products on the British market – made also a prelection during the TCT Introducing Stage about new 3D scanner MICRON3D green stereo. The lecture enjoyed considerable interest among visitors to the fair.

MICRON3D green stereo is a revolutionary Optical Measuring Machine, which stands out from the competition by the use of two monochrome detectors with narrow-band green LED light with a wavelength of 520 nm, which allows for a more accurate representation of the structure of the scanned surface. This is an original measuring method developed by specialists from SMARTTECH3D, which, together with the filters used, reduces the impact of lighting changes on measurements. Thanks to this, we can get results up to 30% better than the traditional method of measuring with white light.

The use of two detectors means that each object is scanned in Stereo Mode: from two independent directions at the same time, and the measurement result is a registered common part. The new projection method included in MICRON3D green stereo – Double Directed Stripes (DDS) means that the light stripes are now projected at each object perpendicularly – as were used in previous models and horizontally which is the novelty. Stereo Mode and DDS projection method technology results in lower uncertainty of scanning results, lower number of errors and noise reduction in scanning results.

The shockproof carbon-fiber cover is temperature resistant while HEPA filters preserve it from dust.

The MICRON3D green stereo scanner is dedicated mainly to the industrial sector and thanks to its properties it is ideally suited to quality control or reverse engineering.
